The Edge of Somewhere is a site for long-form reflective essays by Jason Nicholas concerning a range of topics such as human ecology, spiritual inquiry, media, and the ethics of emerging technology.

I’m writing broadly from a Quaker sensibility. It is not a line of thinking that will lead to definitive answers or necessary point to an end result but rather, I hope, open up a deeper understanding of a given issue for both myself and anyone reading these words.

This is not commentary on current events. I’m attempting to witness and engage with the world we live in and make some positive commentary on the issues that confront us (both large and small).

I am a writer based in Sydney, Australia, with academic backgrounds in English Literature, Cinema Production, and Human Ecology. This website is an iteration of a weblog I started nearly twenty years ago. I’m married to a beautiful woman who has changed and charged my life all for the better; we are the parents of a lovely little girl.

I also maintain jasonnicholas.com.au, a professional site with a different focus and purpose for my media work.

As a disclaimer, I do use AI to code and organise this website; however, the words and content are entirely my own.
